2^nd Male and Female – $2000
3^rd Male and Female – $1000

Billy Baxter Coffee House Handicap – $2000

Please note: that as per Triathlon Australia criteria, to win prize money you need to hold a professional licence. Please see below how you can be in the wave start that races for these outright positions and prizemoney. In the event that race distances are varied due to the weather or any other circumstance that makes the handicap system unfair, the $2000 handicap winner bonus will be split between the 1st male and 1st female making 1st place for each $4000.

Billy Baxter Coffee House Handicap

An exciting feature in the Penrith Valley Nepean Triathlon is the Billy Baxter Handicap. The all ladies wave starts ahead of the Professional and Under 29 wave by the difference between the leading male and female averaged over the past three years. With a handicap bonus of $2,000 for the winning male or female we should have a great finish hopefully in the finish straight! The differences over the past three years have been:

2008 Brian Keane ahead of Barbara Riveros by 691 seconds
2009 Pete Jacobs ahead of Melissa Vandewater by 691 seconds
2010 Brian Sexton over Michelle Wu by 696 seconds.

The start for the ladies in 2011 will therefore be 693 seconds or 11 minutes 33 seconds.

Criteria to race in first wave in Nepean Triathlon and race for prize money

To be eligible to race in the first wave and be eligible for outright placings and prizemoney, you must race in either the first female wave or the first male wave. This is not an issue for the females as all females are in the first wave. For the males, the first male wave is for all competitors aged 29 and under. If you are aged 30 or over, have a professional licence and would like to move to this wave, please contact either Gordon Bell on 0420 514 220 (after hours) or Warwick Brennan on 02 4735 2544 (after hours) before entering. Please note that once you move to this wave, you will not be eligible for age group awards.

Outright an age group winners

All age group winners in the Penrith Valley Nepean Triathlon will receive a pair of Brooks running shoes.
